Pauline Collins – Born in 1940
Pauline Collins became a household name with a smile that could light up any screen. She stole hearts in the 1980s playing Shirley Valentine, first on stage and then in the hit 1989 film that earned her an Oscar nomination and a BAFTA win. Before that, she starred in “Upstairs, Downstairs” as the sweet maid Sarah Moffat, a role so loved that it led to the spin-off “Thomas & Sarah.”
Trained as a teacher before turning to acting, she proved it’s never too late to chase a dream. Whether in theatre or film, Pauline brought warmth and honesty that made her characters unforgettable.
