Lulu – Born in 1948
With that powerhouse voice and infectious smile, Lulu lit up Britain’s pop scene like few others. She burst onto the charts in 1964 with “Shout,” a song she recorded at just 15, and it became an instant classic. By 1969, she was representing the UK at Eurovision with “Boom Bang-a-Bang,” tying for first place and sealing her status as a national treasure.
Her acting chops shone too, as she starred alongside Sidney Poitier in “To Sir, with Love,” and she even sang the film’s theme, which reached number one in the U.S. Decades later, Lulu is still commanding the stage, proving true talent never fades; it just keeps shining.
