Głośne warczenie niedźwiedzia brzmiało jak krzyk rozpaczy, wstrząsający całym pomieszczeniem. Hanna natychmiast wyczuła, że sytuacja jest znacznie bardziej skomplikowana, niż początkowo przypuszczała. W tym samym momencie drzwi z hukiem otworzyły się na oścież, a do środka wbiegli policjanci, ich kroki były ciężkie i zdecydowane. Szybko ogarnęli wzrokiem pokój. Nagle jeden z funkcjonariuszy zawołał: “Zachować spokój!” A Hanna dodała stanowczym, lecz błagalnym tonem, wskazując na niedźwiedzia i jego maleńkiego towarzysza: “Proszę, zachowajcie dystans.” Wtedy wydarzyło się coś nieoczekiwanego. Niedźwiedź, dotąd spięty i czujny, zaczął się poruszać. Powoli zbliżył się do drzwi, a potem odwrócił głowę, upewniając się, że Hanna wciąż na niego patrzy.
