RUUD VAN NISTELROOY EN LEONTIEN SLAATS – EEN HUWELIJK SINDS 2004
Ruud van Nistelrooy schitterde bijna negen jaar op Nederlandse voetbalvelden, vanaf zijn debuut in 1993. Vervolgens toonden clubs als Manchester United en Real Madrid zich getuige van zijn buitengewone begaafdheid, bewonderd door voetballiefhebbers. Ruuds succes zou ondenkbaar zijn geweest zonder de liefde en toewijding van Leontien Slaats, zijn partner sinds zijn tienerjaren. In Engeland vroeg Ruud Leontien ten huwelijk, maar het echtpaar koos voor het idyllische Geffen om elkaar het jawoord te geven te midden van een lokaal evenement. Samen verwelkomden zij hun dochter Moa Annette en zoon Liam, die vastbesloten is in de voetsporen van zijn vader te treden op het voetbalveld.
