Famoso por su sonrisa sincera, Al Roker de Today lleva un estilo de vida saludable, pero para llegar a donde está ahora, tuvo que luchar bastante. Habiendo vivido con una dieta rica en carbohidratos durante toda su infancia, el peso de la estrella de la televisión llegó a ser de 340 libras en un momento dado.
Además de la sensación de realización personal, fue la promesa que le hizo a su padre enfermo lo que le inspiró a perder peso. Cuando se sometió a la cirugía de bypass gástrico, Roker fue capaz de deshacerse de más de 100 libras, y afortunadamente, no hubo efectos secundarios graves del proceso. Aparentemente, ¡hoy es una persona completamente nueva!
