Ten polski piłkarz to prawdziwy rekordzista pod kątem występów w reprezentacji Polski na pozycji bramkarza. Trzykrotnie uczestniczył w Mistrzostwach Świata (w 2006, 2008 i 2016 roku). Wcześnie wykazywał pasję do sportu, na co mogło mieć wpływ jego pochodzenie z bardzo usportowionej rodziny. Pierwsze treningi rozpoczął już w wieku 8 lat.
Po udanych występach w 1998 roku został zaproszony do Legii Warszawa, z którą związany jest do dzisiaj, ale w międzyczasie miał transfery do Celticu, ACF Fiorentiny, Southampton F.C., czy A.F.C. Bournemouth. Wrócił jednak do Legii Warszawa, gdzie przyczynił się do zdobycia mistrzostwa kraju w sezonie 2020/2021.
