Samotna w swojej rozpaczy
Prośba pielęgniarki zawisła w powietrzu, spotykając się z niezręcznym milczeniem. Lekarze wymienili niepewne spojrzenia, a ich sztywne gesty i napięta cisza zdradzały wahanie pośród słów pełnych rozpaczy. W końcu jeden z nich przemówił, choć w jego głosie wyraźnie brakowało pewności: “Policja została już powiadomiona”, powiedział, unikając kontaktu wzrokowego z Hanną. Następnie dodał: “Nie możemy zrobić nic więcej.” Serce kobiety przyspieszyło, przepełnione narastającym niepokojem. Mimo wszystko nie zamierzała ustąpić: “Nie możemy po prostu stać bezczynnie! A jeśli później będzie za późno?” Jej głos zadrżał od emocji, lecz twarze lekarzy pozostały niewzruszone, zamknięte na jej błagania. Decyzja zapadła. Pozostawiona sama na sterylnym korytarzu, Hanna poczuła na sobie przytłaczający ciężar ich bezdusznej obojętności.
