Hanna i Peter nie kryli ogromnej radości, gdy jedno z bezbronnych stworzeń udało się wyrwać z objęć śmierci. Hanna wyszeptała delikatnie tuląc zwierzątko w ramionach: “Już jesteś bezpieczny, maluszku.” Szybko przygotowała na ziemi ciepłe, przytulne miejsce, by uratowane istoty mogły dojść do siebie. Jedno po drugim, kolejne stworzenia pojawiały się na powierzchni, gdy Peter zmagając się z trudnościami, ostrożnie wydobywał je ze studni. Każde ocalone życie przynosiło Hannie falę ulgi. Po czasie, który zdawał się nie mieć końca, Peter wreszcie wyniósł ostatnie zwierzę. Pięć maleńkich istot siedziało na ziemi, wpatrując się w nich z mieszaniną konsternacji i ciekawości. Między Hanną a Peterem zapadła cisza. Każde z nich mogło zabrać po dwa stworzenia, ale jedno wciąż pozostawało samo. Co powinni teraz zrobić?
