Filho do grande diretor de TV José Bonifácio, Boninho tem carreira extensa no mesmo ramo. Já trabalhou como diretor de vídeo para o Fantástico e para bandas como Titãs e Ultraje a Rigor. Hoje, o diretor desempenha papel chave na Rede Globo e é responsável por inúmeros programas, como Domingão do Faustão, Caldeirão do Huck e Big Brother Brasil.
Casado há mais de 20 anos com a atriz Ana Furtado, Boninho revelou que desejava se tornar mais atraente para a esposa, e assim optou pela cirurgia bariátrica. Quatro anos depois, Boninho está 45 quilos mais magro e bem mais atraente!
