Gernot Blümel gehört zu den engsten Vertrauten den österreichischen Kanzlers Sebastian Kurz. Die beiden kennen sich schon lange und kommen eigentlich aus der selben Branche, allerdings dürfte das Einkommen von Sebastian Kurz als Kanzler Österreichs dann doch um einiges höher liegen als das von Gernot Blümel. Im Augenblick strebt Gernot Blümel das Amt des Bürgermeisters an.
