Petula Clark – Born in 1932
Before there was Adele, there was Petula Clark, the original British pop darling with a voice that could light up the radio waves. She shot to fame in the 1960s with her massive hit “Downtown,” which topped charts in both the UK and the U.S. and earned her a Grammy.
But Petula’s story started much earlier, as a child performer who entertained troops during World War II. She went on to star in films like “Goodbye, Mr. Chips” and record in multiple languages, selling over 68 million records worldwide. In 2020, she even appeared in London’s West End musical “Mary Poppins,” proving pure talent never fades.
