The British Celebs With One Foot In The Grave And A Martini
Moira Stuart – Born in 1949
There’s a reason Moira Stuart is considered broadcasting royalty. When she appeared on BBC Television in 1981, she made history as the first Black female newsreader on British TV. With her calm voice, poise, and professionalism, she quickly became one of the most trusted faces in the country.
Throughout her decades-long career, she presented news for the BBC, hosted documentaries, and hosted radio shows on BBC Radio 2 and Classic FM. In 2001, she was awarded an OBE for her services to broadcasting. Another thing that makes Moira’s trailblazing success great is how it opened doors for generations of journalists who followed in her footsteps.
