Max Boyce – Born in 1943
In the 1970s, no Welsh crowd was complete without Max Boyce and his guitar. With his mix of humour, storytelling, and songs about rugby, coal mining, and life in Wales, he became a voice of the people. His live album, “Live at Treorchy,” released in 1973, went gold, making him a household name far beyond the valleys.
Songs like “Hymns and Arias” became anthems sung in stadiums across Wales. In 1978, he was awarded an MBE for his contribution to entertainment. What makes Max so special wasn’t just his wit, but his warmth and how he turns every performance into a joyful celebration of Welsh pride and laughter.
