Echo, które prowadziło do bólu
Przechadzając się wzdłuż skraju zarośli, Jonathan usłyszał coś, co natychmiast przyspieszyło rytm jego serca – cichy jęk, ledwie słyszalny, ale pełen rozpaczy. Zatrzymał się, nasłuchując, aż dźwięk rozbrzmiał ponownie. W tej jednej chwili wiedział, że nie może odejść. Jego myśli pobiegły do małego, zagubionego stworzenia, które – nie wiadomo jak – znalazło się w tym odludnym miejscu. Czas przestał mieć znaczenie, a on sam skupił się tylko na jednym: ratunku. To nie był pierwszy raz, gdy los go wystawił na próbę. Wiedział, że nie może pozwolić, by cierpienie trwało ani chwilę dłużej. W takich momentach nie liczyły się pytania ani konsekwencje – tylko działanie, bez cienia wahania.
