Harry Belafonte – Age 92
The King of Calypso, Harry Belafonte, popularized the Caribbean music style that originated in Trinidad & Tobago. He holds the record for the first million-selling LP by a solo artist with his revolutionary album, Calypso (1956). Belafonte was also one of the people behind the Grammy Award-winning charity single, We Are the World. The song featured various artists who raised money for Africa in 1985 with a Live Aid concert performance that happened on the same year.
It was used once again after the devastating earthquake that hit Haiti on January 12, 2010. This singer and civil rights advocate, Belafonte, is one artist we can all look up to!
