Something’s Not Right
The boy glanced at the baby, his expression still doubtful, then shrugged as if the answer didn’t make sense. He wasn’t convinced, not even for a second. A nurse, overhearing his soft words, walked by and offered a cheerful comment to lighten the mood. “Babies can look all sorts of ways when they’re born,” she said with a bright smile.
But the boy didn’t respond. His eyes stayed locked on the tiny face, and there was something in the silence that felt too heavy for his age. The father, still kneeling beside him, felt a chill run down his spine. Something in his son’s hesitation was beginning to feel… unsettling.
