No início dos anos 80, Matt Dillon era jovem ator muito promissor. Em muitos filmes, ele interpretou o papel de “bad boy”, entre os quais Queridinha, O Selvagem da Motocicleta e Cuidado com Meu Guarda-Costas. Além disso, ele entrou também em alguns filmes de comédia, ao lado de Kate Hudson e Owen Wilson. No filme O Poder da Justiça, lançado em 1997, Matt fez o papel de jovem advogado de defesa criminal do Tennessee. Nos anos 2000, ao contrário do que muitos atores fazem, Matt manteve sua carreira a todo vapor com vários filmes.
