Matt Stone and Trey Parker, the notorious creators behind “South Park,” brought their irreverent humor to the 2000 Oscars in a bold fashion statement. In drag, they spoofed the glitzy affair; Matt in a plunging, sequined green gown channeling Gwyneth Paltrow from the previous year, and Trey in a velvety pink number mimicking Jennifer Lopez’s Golden Globes look, both outfits defiantly lacking a designer label.
The duo was nominated for Best Original Song, marking their mischievous brand of comedy with an official nod from Hollywood. Their cross-dressing caper wasn’t just for laughs; it was a playful jab at the ceremony’s gravitas.
