Il polso le pulsava di dolore, ma fu il terrore a paralizzarla. Il braccialetto con il nome di Sammy giaceva spezzato, e accanto a esso… quell’anello maledetto. Lo stesso di Sara.
Le dita le tremarono mentre stava pensando ancora una volta sul diario una frase agghiacciante: “Per L., che sa la verità”. Un fruscio la fece trasalire.
“L’hai trovato.”
La voce la trafisse come un coltello. Davanti a lei, nel chiarore lunare, Sara sorrideva. Impossibile. La madre era morta vent’anni prima.
“Non sono mai andata via, Lydia. E ora sai perché.”
L’anello pulsava nella sua mano, più caldo del sangue. Chiuse gli occhi, li riaprì…Sara era scomparsa.
