They sought the help of the mascot Smokey Bear to spread the message that only you can prevent forest fires with a bit of care. The iconic mascot’s name and the image are protected under the ‘Smokey Bear Act of 1952.’ it’s been one of the longest-running campaigns among the public service announcements undertaken by the government. It’s been effective in educating the public about the dangers of wildfires.
