Hoewel Stefan de Vrij niet langer de snelheid van weleer op het voetbalveld bezit, heeft zijn illustere carrière geenszins aan momentum verloren. Van een cruciale rol bij Feyenoord tot een gewaardeerde speler bij Lazio Roma en uiteindelijk een gerespecteerde kracht bij Internazionale, heeft De Vrij een bewonderenswaardig traject afgelegd. Zijn eerste stappen op het internationale toneel werden ondersteund door zijn toenmalige partner Marloes Buitelaar. Na hun scheiding wist De Vrij echter het hart van Doina Turcanu te veroveren. Hoewel de toekomst van zijn voetbalcarrière na het aflopen van zijn contract nog onzeker is, bloeit zijn romance met Doina op in Italië, zoals blijkt uit hun levendige aanwezigheid op sociale media.
