Bij de Oscars van 2000 stond Angelina Jolie in de schijnwerpers, niet alleen vanwege haar fascinerende look maar ook vanwege haar onmiskenbare talent. Ze werd al geprezen voor haar intense en krachtige optredens, had net een Golden Globe gewonnen voor haar rol in “Girl, Interrupted” en was een sterke kanshebber voor de Academy Award.
Voor de ceremonie koos ze een gestroomlijnde, zwarte, vloerlange jurk van Versace, een ensemble dat een gotische glamour uitstraalde die haar unieke kant weerspiegelde. Het was een avond om nooit te vergeten, want ze won de Oscar voor Beste Bijrol en haar hartstochtelijke kus met Billy Bob Thornton op de rode loper deed de media gonzen.
