La vida de Malena Alterio pudo haber sido completamente diferente. Nacida en Argentina, debió mudarse con sus padres con tan solo meses de vida a España, y no regresaron más a Buenos Aires. Según los datos entregados a Hacienda, la fortuna de Malena, conseguida solo con su trabajo, asciende a los 4 millones de euros.
