Gareth Bale: Retired football player, $145 Million
In England, Gareth Bale began his professional career as a left defender with Southampton until being acquired by Hotspurs for $6 million in 2007. The young Welshman made his name when he scored a triple trick in a 4-3 loss to then-champions Inter Milan at the San Siro. Believe it or not, the owners were allegedly willing to pay Bale twice as much as his estimated $133K wage at the end of his time in North London to keep him around.
The legendary forward won several honors throughout his stellar career from 2006 until 2023. For Wales, Bale’s career will end with him as the all-time leading scorer and the record holder for most appearances in a national team.
