Mermaids Make a Splash at Disneyland
At Disneyland’s Submarine Voyage, four women dressed in plastic mermaid tails delighted visitors by waving cheerfully at the camera. These performers, hired for their ability to execute synchronized swimming routines, added a magical touch to the underwater-themed attraction. The hiring of mermaids was aimed at enhancing the immersive experience, making fantasy seem momentarily real for guests.
However, the practice was discontinued due to the high maintenance costs and logistical challenges associated with the performances. As for the submarine voyage itself, it was eventually reimagined and reopened as the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage. The entertainment spot continues to captivate audiences with its oceanic adventures.
