Sam Elliott, Hollywood’s famously rugged cowboy, and Katharine Ross, the stunning star of “The Graduate,” share a love story straight out of a Western. They first crossed paths in 1969 on “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,” but it wasn’t until filming “The Legacy” in 1978 that sparks flew.
Sam, feeling like a mere “glorified extra” in their early days, finally won over the leading lady. By 1984, the two were married and soon welcomed their daughter, Cleo Rose. With four decades of marriage under their belts, Sam credits their lasting love to a genuine partnership. A match made in Hollywood, they’ve been writing their own love story ever since.
