Sam Elliott, Hollywood’s famously rugged cowboy, and Katharine Ross, the stunning star of “The Graduate,” share a love story straight out of a Western. They first crossed paths in 1969 on “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,” but it wasn’t until filming “The Legacy” in 1978 that sparks flew.
Sam, feeling like a mere “glorified extra” in their early days, finally won over the leading lady. By 1984, the two were married and soon welcomed their daughter, Cleo Rose.
