In 2018, Emmy-winning reporter Nichelle Medina had an unexpected “Zoo Day” surprise during CBS News 8’s “Morning News” segment. As she and co-anchor Eric Kahnert chatted about the animals visiting from the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, a scarlet ibis named Sophie decided to join the action in a way nobody expected.
Sophie perched right on their heads, catching them completely off guard and giving viewers an instant classic.
