Wer jedoch zum ersten Mal campen gehen möchte, braucht nicht die komplette Ausrüstung. Man braucht lediglich das Nötigste, dazu gehören ein stabiles Zelt, ein bequemer Schlafsack, ein zuverlässiger Rucksack und hochwertige Wanderschuhe. Es ist auch sinnvoll, ein Erste-Hilfe-Set, eine Karte und einen Kompass oder GPS, ein Multitool und eine Methode zur Wasserreinigung dabei zu haben.
