Winona Ryder wurde schon im Alter von 13 Jahren von einem Talentsucher entdeckt und spielte im Film Lucas. Sie hat als junge Schauspielerin an der Seite der meisten großen Hollywood-Stars gespielt und hat sich in der Branche einen Namen gemacht und wurde dafür mehrfach ausgezeichnet. Sie hat auch einen Stern auf dem Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Einer ihrer wichtigsten Erfolge war der Film an der Seite von Jonny Depp, der auch einige Jahre lang ihr Lebensgefährte war, Edward mit den Scherenhänden. Nach einigen skandalösen Jahren, in denen sie wegen Kleiderdiebstahls verhaftet wurde und unter Depressionen litt, ist sie wieder voll im Geschäft und dreht einen Film nach dem anderen.
