Sie lernte den 10 Jahre älteren Elvis im Alter von 14 Jahren in Wiesbaden in Deutschland kennen und heirateten als sie 18 wurde. Sie waren zwar nicht lang verheiratet, dennoch war sie lange Vorsitzende der Elvis Presley Enterprises und ihr heutiges Vermögen beläuft sich auf rund 50 Millionen Dollar.
Nach ihrer Scheidung begann sie als Schauspielerin zu arbeiten und hat in einigen Serien wie Dallas und Filmen wie Die nackte Kanone mitgespielt. Sie ist die Mutter der Sängerin Lisa Marie Presley und genießt heute ihren Ruhestand.
