Ein historisches Beispiel für weiblichen Mut ist Carin du Rietz, die sich im 18. Jahrhundert als Mann verkleidete, um in der königlichen Garde zu dienen. Sie war das erste weibliche Mitglied und blieb auch nach ihrer Enthüllung gegenüber König Gustav III. in ihrem Amt.
