Die israelischen Verteidigungsstreitkräfte sind bekannt für ihre hohe Anzahl an weiblichen Soldaten, was durch die allgemeine Wehrpflicht unterstützt wird. Nur körperliche Einschränkungen oder Krankheiten sind ein Hindernis, um dem Militär beitreten zu können, andernfalls muss jeder junge Mann und jede junge Frau zum Soldaten und Soldatin werden. Seit der Staatsgründung im Jahr 1948, als der Dienst von Frauen in der Armee noch eine Seltenheit war, haben israelische Frauen in allen wesentlichen Konflikten des Landes mitgekämpft. Dieses Bild fängt nur eine von vielen faszinierenden weiblichen Persönlichkeiten in Uniform ein, die 30 % der Streitkräfte ausmachen und im Herzen der israelischen Gesellschaft stehen.
