John Popper es el líder de los Blues Travelers, y luchó con una condición con la que varias personas realmente se enfrentan (comer de forma compulsiva). El desorden lo llevó a volverse muy poco saludable y eventualmente descubrió que era diabético.
Después de darse cuenta de que su peso podía ser la causa de que su vida llegara a un final inesperado, Popper hizo algo sobre el resultado de sus terribles hábitos alimenticios. Necesitaba hacerlo rápido, así que optó por someterse a una cirugía de bypass gástrico. El costoso procedimiento le hizo bajar 200 libras y ¡seguro que le salvó la vida!
