Leonardo DiCaprio a fait l’acquisition de l’île Blackadore Caye, située au large du Belize, alors qu’elle subissait une importante dégradation due à la déforestation et à l’érosion. L’acteur prévoit d’y développer un complexe comprenant une trentaine de résidences, un établissement hôtelier ainsi qu’un aéroport privé. Ce projet vise en outre à établir une zone habitée axée sur la restauration écologique et la gestion des ressources naturelles de façon durable.
En parallèle, Leonardo DiCaprio détient aussi l’île de Cayo Espanto, également localisée au Belize. Par toutes ces acquisitions, il renforce son implication dans des initiatives axées sur l’environnement. Le programme d’aménagement de Blackadore Caye repose sur des principes architecturaux durables, tout en intégrant les écosystèmes locaux dans la conception des infrastructures.
