Heather Mills and Paul McCartney started their relationship the way only millionaires could: at a charity function. After chatting Heather up about her cause, Sir Paul drew from his enormous checking account to write her a check for over $200K. Mills, who was formerly married to a bonds trader, had been a model until her leg was amputated in a car accident; after securing a settlement with the help of a personal injury lawyer, Mills devoted her life to humanitarian causes. Unfortunately, Mills and McCartney couldn’t make it work despite their mutual interest in charity. They got divorced in 2008.
