Jill Tavelman and Phil Collins – 12 years
Given all the love ballads he’s recorded, it’s something of a surprise that Phil Collins is not much of a romantic in real life. The former Genesis artist married Jill Tavelman in 1984 and, after 12 years of marriage, communicated with her via fax machine to hash out the details of their divorce.
While Tavelman now lives comfortably in the Los Angeles mansion she and Collins bought together in 1992, Collins has faced continuous legal problems and a downturn in popularity. He is frequently accused of protecting his $250 million fortune by utilizing tax-sheltered bank accounts in Switzerland.
