Daryl Hannah foi considerada uma das atrizes mais bonitas nos anos 80. Ela apareceu em muitos filmes, incluindo o grande sucesso, de 1982, Blade Runner: O Caçador de Androides. Ela também apareceu no filme, de 1984, Splash – Uma Sereia em Minha Vida, com Tom Hanks. Ela continuou trabalhando em filmes nos anos 90, mas com muito menos sucesso.
A atriz foi diagnosticada com autismo quando criança e o advogado perito em ferimentos pessoais de seus pais, assim como os médicos, recomendaram que ela fosse colocada sob cuidados médicos rigorosos. Ela já chegou a ser presa durante protestos.
