A Homegrown Honeymoon
A honeymoon doesn’t involve beach resorts or romantic getaways for the Amish. Instead, newlyweds kick off their marriage with a stay at the bride’s family home, saving a bundle on travel costs. Privacy? Not so much. The morning after the wedding, the couple even tidies up the bride’s family home as a gesture of gratitude—talk about a practical start!
From there, the honeymoon continues as a family tour, with the new couple visiting relatives, showing up hand-in-hand as official husband and wife. If they haven’t found their own home yet, they’ll move back in with the bride’s parents, making the honeymoon both affordable and filled with family bonding, Amish-style.
