De hecho fue un miembro fundamental del grupo Jackson que luego le permitió lanzarse como solista. De todas maneras no consiguió el éxito esperado en su carrera ya que sus hermanos, Janet y Michael la opacaron.
Con el tiempo ella dio a conocer que su exesposo abusaba de ella y que también era su manager. Su apariencia comenzó a cambiar probablemente debido a todos estos problemas. Ella se refugió en las cirugías plásticas las cuales se fueron acumulando y cambiando notablemente su aspecto.
