Alice uit “Alice in Wonderland” mag dan wel geen Disney prinses zijn, maar qua populariteit staat ze zeker haar mannetje. Haar personage werd geboren uit het creatieve brein van de Britse auteur Lewis Carroll in 1865. De Disney verfilming uit 1951 bracht de surrealistische avonturen van Alice tot leven met een unieke mix van eigenzinnigheid en eigenaardigheid.
Een fascinerend detail over de film uit 1951 is hoe hij aanvankelijk werd ontvangen. In tegenstelling tot veel Disney-klassiekers was “Alice in Wonderland” niet meteen een hit. De film kreeg zijn iconische status pas na verloop van tijd en werd een cultfavoriet vanwege de artistieke stijl, die de tijd ver vooruit was, en het fantasierijke verhaal.
