Talvez a geração mais nova não se lembre imediatamente do seu nome, mas qualquer pessoa, independente de sua idade, reconhecerá facilmente o rosto de José de Abreu. Ele é um dos mais velhos e preciosos atores de televisão ainda vivos, fazendo parte da geração pioneira de atores da Rede Globo.
Hoje ele aproveita sua aposentadoria farta e não precisa mais trabalhar, embora ainda participe de alguns projetos. O que é certo é que, apesar de muito velho, essa relíquia da televisão segue firme e forte, e ao contrário do que muitos pensam, ele não morreu!
