Candice Bergen is ook een actrice die eerst model is geweest. Met haar acteerwerk voor haar elf seizoenen van Murphy Brown heeft ze maar liefst vijf Emmy Awards en twee Golden Globe Awards gewonnen.
Ook was ze genomineerd voor een Oscar voor haar rol in Starting Over uit 1979 en in 1982 voor de BAFTA voor haar rol in Gandhi. Ze stond in 1966 al op de cover van Vogue voor haar filmdebuut. Ze heeft vele rollen gespeeld zoals die in Book Club, Bride Wars en Sweet Home Alabama, maar ze is er nog lang niet klaar mee.
