Zijn 100 meter en 200 meter vlinder records én zijn 400 meter wisselslag record zijn tot nu toe nog niet verbroken. Michael is met pensioen van het sporten sinds 2016 en focust zich nu voornamelijk op filantropie. Ondertussen is zijn Scottsdale Paradise Valley landgoed in 2018 verkocht voor $3,5 miljoen.
