Hollywood Golden Age Stars Who Are Still With US
Did you ever wonder if the actor or actress in the film you just watched is still around? How about that song that you just heard recently? Some performers don’t give it up until their last breath, but many retire to enjoy their last days in luxury after a hard lifetime’s work. Sidney Poitier – Age 92
Sidney Poitier led the way for Bahamian-American actors. He is an international film star that went from theatre to on-screen Academy Award-winning actor. He was the first African American actor to have won the prestigious award. After his retirement from the acting scene, he went into recording an album, directing and then became a diplomat.
He was granted the British knighthood and a Presidential Medal of Freedom. Poitier has been at the forefront of speaking up against racism at various events and he also lends his efforts to charitable work.
