FORMER CHILD STARS NOW – HOW MANY CAN YOU RECOGNIZE?

Do you know any boy in the late 1980s or early 1990s who didn’t have a total crush on Danice McKellar who was born in California. McKellar rose to fame as Kevin Arnold’s girlfriend Winnie Cooper in the TV serie The Wonder Years. The show ended in 1993 and McKellar said that she found the transition from being a child actress to an adult actress was very nerve wrecking for her. Since the show ended she had several minor roles in TV series and has directed two short films. 

Her sister is a child actor as well and their parents emphasized the importance of education throughout their childhood. McKellar earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with summa cum laude from UCLA in 1998 and her sister became a successful lawyer. We can definitely say that parents of child stars should emphasize the importance of education much more. Many child stars didn’t even finish high school and thus their transition into a normal life is much harder for them. 

In 2009 she married the composer Mike Verta in California. Prior to their marriage they had dated for more than 8 years. They have a child together and McKellar filed for divorce in 2012. In 2014 she married her boyfriend Scott Sveslosky.
