Watch out! Honey Boo Boo is on her way!

In 2012 the world got to meet Honey Boo Boo and Mama June and was totally shocked. TLC followed the child beauty pageant contestant Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson and made a fortune with their reality television series on her family. 

The first season was filmed when Honey Boo Boo was six years old. The show not only features Alana Thompson but her whole family who kind of lack manners. The reality show was so successful that four seasons were filmed. The show was received by the audience as “offensive”, “exploitative” and “outrageous”. Others believed that to watch Honey Boo Boo and her vulgar family is “must-see TV”. In 2014 the show was cancelled because Mama June was romantically involved with a registered criminal offender. 

Since then Honey Boo boo and her family have been  parodied in television shows and films like South Park and Scary Movie 5. In 2015, Alana and her mother were featured in one episode of The Doctors after Honey Boo Boo had gained a lot of weight and had weighed more than 120 pounds. The Doctors helped her to make healthy food choices.
