Quando Federica fu eletta nel 1982 Miss Italia, la televisione notò subito che aveva un grandissimo potenziale. Federica fu infatti il volto di serie come College che negli anni 80 ebbero successo. Federica continuò la sua carriera sia a livello televisivo che a livello di film per tutti gli anni 80 e 90.
In seguito ha fatto una scelta differente, ritirandosi dal mondo dello spettacolo e dedicandosi maggiormente alla sua famiglia. Oggi vive a Lugano dove è felicemente sposata a un imprenditore nel settore delle acciaierie. Si è dedicata ad un ambito completamente diverso, essendo comunque un’appassionata di design e arte: Ha aperto una galleria, dove si occupa di artisti internazionali.
