The widely acclaimed American biographical film, Boys Don’t Cry, witnessed Hillary Swank playing the role of the protagonist, Brandon Teena, on whose life the film was actually based. Teena is an American trans-man who is shown as falling victim to brutal hate crime at the hands of two male acquaintances.

Lana, Teena’s girlfriend, was played by Chloë Sevigny in the movie. Co-written and directed by Kimberly Pierce, the movie highlighted sensitive issues like violence against LGBT people. Several controversies surrounded the movie, but they didn’t affect its popularity. It won many awards in different categories, but Swank stole the show with the most number of accolades.
