Sally Fitzgibbons – Aus dem Stadion aufs Surfbrett zur Weltelite
Sally Fitzgibbons war schon immer ein Ausnahmetalent – allerdings zunächst nicht im Wasser, sondern auf dem Sportplatz. Ob Mittelstreckenlauf, Fußball oder Leichtathletik – die Australierin brillierte in verschiedenen Disziplinen. Doch das Meer ließ sie nicht los, und so wurde das Surfbrett schließlich zu ihrem Zuhause.
Mit gerade einmal 14 Jahren mischte sie bereits bei Profi-Contests mit und beeindruckte mit Technik, Mut und Ehrgeiz. 2019 setzte sie ihrer Karriere die Krone auf und führte die Weltrangliste an. Fitzgibbons ist mehr als nur eine erfolgreiche Surferin – sie ist ein Vorbild in Sachen Disziplin und Durchhaltevermögen und inspiriert weltweit junge Sportlerinnen, ihre Träume konsequent zu verfolgen – ganz gleich, wo sie beginnen.
